TOURING THE SOLAR SYSTEM

For the first time you can tour the solar system by motorcycle. Top off your tank before you depart.

Northeast bikers looking for an interesting ride this season have only to head for the small college town of Presque Isle, just north of Portland and home of the Northern Maine Museum of Science. It's there you can set out on an out of this world ride across the solar system. Thanks to the work of science students at the University of Maine at Presque Isle you have an opportunity to follow along a 40-mile built to scale model tour of our solar system, while you locate each of our system's planets.

Starting your deep space adventure at a 30-foot diameter replica of the sun, you can ride to the scale planetary models spread out through the countryside. The model planets are to scale both in their size and their relative distance from the sun. The model of the good old Earth, for example is just five and one-half-inches in size and located one mile from the 50-foot diameter sun. The 21.3-inch diameter display of Neptune on the other hand, is to be found some 30.6-miles down the road.

Be you a follower of outer space happenings or not, exploring Presque Isle's solar system models can be a real hoot.

    Emissions Notice

    The state of California considers aftermarket exhaust systems to be legal replacement parts for non-catalyst equipped motorcycles and/or if slip-on mufflers are installed downstream of the OEM catalysts.

    California does not allow the use of aftermarket systems that remove original equipment catalysts, (except for racing use only) unless the Air Resources Board has issued an Executive Order for that system.

    For California riders we offer Air Resources Board approved Fi2000 R ARB units. (ARB E.O. No. D-633-1). All other Fi2000 models are not legal for street use in California.
